Successful completion of rain soaked Manchester Marathon

May 30th, 2012

In some of the worst running weather imaginable Phil Bamford,  Group Sales Development Director at Cardinal, finished the Greater Manchester Marathon in a time of 3:54:35, almost six minutes inside Phil’s personal target and in the cold driving rain and 60mph winds.

The first Greater Manchester marathon for a decade attracted thousands of runners on Sunday 29th April.
Sports management firm Xtra Mile Events organised the run in conjunction with Trafford Council in the hope of raising £1m for a host of charities, including The Christie and Henshaw’s Society for Blind People.
Around 4,500 people took part in the 26.2-mile (42km) run, which took entrants from Longford Park in Stretford to Dunham Massey in Altrincham, and back again.

Phil would like to thank eveyone for their support and sponsorship in aid of Tess Sullivan, the 5 year old girl from Huncoat who tragically suffers from the terminal illness, Alexanders Disease
