Oliver wins Shopfitting Apprentice of the Year award

Cardinal’s own Oliver Atkinson scooped the prestigious “Shopfittng Apprentice of the Year” award from Leeds College of Building this month.  Oliver a first year student at the college took on and beat all students including the more experienced apprentices from years two and thrree.

Dave Kirkup, Associate Director of Joinery was there to see Oliver collect his award and said “We are always pleased to see the progress made by our apprentices, but Oliver has raised the bar with this excellent achievement. His attitude to work has been exemplary, and gives us all good hope for the future of the business”

The Faculty of Construction at Leeds College of Building offers a wide range of learning programmes and assessment opportunites in a number of skills including brickwork, carpentry and joinery, furniture manufacture, general construction operations, machine woodworking, painting & decorating, plastering, roofing, shopfitting, signmaking and wall & floor tiling.

All students are encouraged to work towards excellence and competition plays a vital role in their development.
