1948 London shortlisted for National Shopfitting Awards

April 30th, 2012

Cardinal has been shortlisted with Child Graddon Lewis for this year’s Design Partnership Award by the National Association of Shopfitters for the 1948 store in Shoreditch for Nike.

Nike’s new look 1948 store set within the railway arches on Bateman’s Row in London’s Shoreditch, re-opened to the public last summer after a re-fit in preparation for 2012’s year of sport in the UK. This is a space that combines sport, art, culture, development and hosts numerous events as well as featuring the best and most innovative Nike Sportswear products.

The exterior has simple 1948 branding with wooden deck seating areas and landscaping. Upon entering the space, you’re met with several large floor-to-ceiling digital screens, framed by brick walls that currently feature large-scale murals. The interior boasts a new mezzanine; this gallery space provides a multi-use library and workspace and encourages visitors to ‘hang out’ above the main product space.

The winners of the awards will be announced on 17th May at a reception at the London Film Museum.
