Creating an inspirational teaching environment

The brief.

To create a self contained, acoustically isolated environment for use by joinery & wood machining students to learn safe practices in the use of machine power tools. The unit was specifically constructed without the use of mechanical fixings in order to demonstrate joinery techniques.

Design development, 3D CAD modelling,  setting out and manufacture of a feature spheroidal roofed, elliptical timber part glazed “POD” for the Timber Trades department of Leicester Technical College. This created a self contained, acoustically isolated environment for use by joinery & wood machining students. New concealed power and data services were incorporated into the shell of the structure.
